Voice Picking Spells the Right Answer for ABC Stores

Hawaiian convenience store chain ABC Stores has selected DecisionPoint to automate its warehouse operations using Wavelink's Speakeasy voice picking technology.

ABC Stores provide a variety of merchandise, from drugs and cosmetics to souvenirs and grocery items, and picking small items accounts for a large percentage of the inventory movement. Employing voice technology to its picking needs helped reduce picking errors and increased picking efficiency by 40 percent. The increased efficiency enabled warehouse operations to provide a higher level of service to the stores, reducing labor costs in both the warehouse and the stores. With the success of this implementation, Mark Flores, ABC Stores' warehouse manager, is now looking to deploy Wavelink Speakeasy technology in the company's remote distribution centers.

"We were very happy and pleased with the response and support provided by the Wavelink and DecisionPoint Systems teams during the Speakeasy implementation process," said Louise Yim, business technology project manager at ABC Stores, in a statement.

Greg Henry, senior vice president of software services at DecisionPoint, said one of the key goals of his work for ABC Stores was to increase worker productivity and eliminate paperwork while modernizing the operations.

"It's important for an organization like ABC Stores, as it is for most businesses, to increase the efficiency and accuracy of their operations while improving the performance of its workforce," he said in a statement. "Our goal was to install a voice picking solution for ABC Stores that was easy to learn and use, and helped the entire organization to be more successful. Working with our partner, Wavelink, we accomplished this goal. We are excited and honored to work with such an outstanding and successful retailer."
