Voice Signal Technologies Software Shipping with Samsung Smartphone

WOBURN, MA - Voice Signal Technologies announced the Samsung SCH-i600 is shipping with Voice Signal's Voice Activated Phonebook (VAP) software and application launching feature. The VAP software voice-activates the user's phonebook, allowing users the option to dial or look up information by saying a name, with no need to "train" the name beforehand. The digit-dialing feature, supported by Voice Signal and Samsung in 2002, allows users to dial any number simply by saying the digits naturally. Users will also be able to launch an application on the phone using voice. "With the release of our Voice-Activated Phonebook for the i600, Voice Signal continues to lead the market for embedded speech solutions on mobile devices," said Voice Signal CEO Rich Geruson. "We are excited to be working with Samsung to introduce embedded speech solutions for voice dialing on the first product to use Microsoft's Windows Mobile for Smartphone platform." Product is available through Verizon Wireless' nationwide retail network for $399 after rebate. "The i600 is a powerful communication device for anyone who needs both a wireless phone and PDA at their fingertips," said Peter Skarzynski, senior vice president of Samsung's wireless terminals division. "Voice Signal's solution allows mobile professionals to dial and access all of their Pocket Outlook contacts, dial phone numbers, and launch applications, all by voice. These features are powerful tools for end-users who will benefit from the ease-of-use and powerful interactive voice interface in the i600."
