Nuance Data Breach Includes 895 Patients in San Francisco Area

In its SEC filing on May 10, Nuance announced a data breach in which "A former Nuance employee breached Nuance's servers and accessed the personal information of 45,000 individuals from several contracted clients between November 20 and December 9 of 2017..." according to SC Media.
According to a press release from the San Francisco Department of Public Health, 895 patients had their information accessed, including "personal data such as name, date of birth, medical record number, patient number, and information dictated by the provider such as patient condition, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, care plan and date of service. The incident did not include information such as Social Security number, Driver's License number or financial account numbers."
