Liopa Closes Seed Round of Funding

Belfast-based Liopa hopes to commercialize ten years of research and image processing after a successful seed-funding round. Using crowdfunding website Syndicate Room the company took just four weeks to hit its goal, and then some. Though Liopa did not disclose the final amount raised, it told BusinessCloud that it is a six-figure amount. Several angel investors and the Fund Twenty8 EIS (enterprise investment scheme) participated.

Liopa hopes to improve ASR recognition in real-world, noisy environments using its LipRead technology. The company plans to sell its technology as “ASR-Assist” to existing voice systems.
