IBM releases CCXML, a Proposed Standard with the W3C

MIAMI, FL - IBM announced the availability of CCXML (call control XML) interpreter. According to IBM, the new offering allows a CCXML application to handle inbound call routing and through the use of XML, streamlines the development processes. This allows developers to manage all applications in one location on a Web server. The CCXML Interpreter leverages open standards and existing skills in XML to reduce the time of speech application development.

 

CCXML, a proposed standard with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), has been designed to integrate with VoiceXML systems. This alphaWorks offering consists of a CCXML interpreter and associated user documentation. It runs on WebSphere Voice Response for AIX v3.1. and builds on IBM's Voice Toolkit.

 

"VoiceXML is widely used in enabling speech interaction across a diverse set of applications, industries and end-users," said Igor Jablokov, Chairman of the VoiceXML Forum and IBM's Program Director for Multimodal/Voice Portal Products. "IBM is committed to helping our customers build on existing investments and extend their capabilities. The CCXML interpreter is another important step in making speech application development more effective through the use of open standards."
