BT Signs New Five-Year Contract with Convergys

Convergys entered into a five-year contract with BT  to expand the use of Infinys, Convergys' billing and customer care solution, to support all of BT's consumer, business, and wholesale customers. BT is a provider of communications solutions serving customers in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

This agreement encompasses the use of Infinys to rate and bill all BT products and services including BT's 27 million plus PSTN (public switched telephone network) customers. Convergys' Infinys solution is capable of supporting PSTN services as well as Internet Protocol (IP) services on the same platform, including services enabled by IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS).

"With Infinys as our core rating and billing engine, we can significantly streamline our billing operations, reducing costs, while introducing new services to market faster than we can today," said Maria Pardee, chief information officer of BT Retail.

In 2005, Convergys and BT announced an Infinys deployment consolidating a billing operation, consisting of 55 billing systems across Europe, North America, and Australia to Infinys. To date, 55 systems have been condensed to eight, resulting in an eight percent reduction in BSS total cost of ownership, a 50 percent reduction in time to market for new services, and a 40 percent return on capital employed in the project for BT.
