Wizzard Software Announces Retail Partnership with Health One of Southern Illinois for Rex - The Talking Bottle

PITTSBURGH - Health One of Southern Illinois will be using Rex-The Talking Bottle system in their pharmacy and adding the Rex Starter Kits for personal use to their store shelves.  Opening the first week of March, Health One of Southern Illinois is a full-service pharmacy that will specialize in senior care and will fill prescriptions for long-term care homes as well as individual prescriptions.

Dr. John Stoecklin, pharmacist and owner of Health One of Southern Illinois was first introduced to Rex at the American Society for Consultant Pharmacists Convention held in San Fransisico in November of 2004.  His first thought was that the Rex system was simply a "really neat idea".

"I thought Rex was such a neat idea.  For the regular senior market, what a great system to fill their prescriptions with, and send them home and let them "hear" about their prescriptions."

"I've seen patients write, in marker, on the caps of their bottles phrases such as, "blood pressure," said Stoecklin.  "What if their caps get switched? Rex is a great way to assist folks with specific needs in the complex drug regimens we see in the senior markets.  This is an aide with which we can keep people healthier and keep medication regimens maintained as they were intended."

Rex can assist anyone who has difficulty reading or understanding their medication instructions, by "reading" the instructions to the patient out-loud.  The instructions can be the actual label information or any other message that is helpful to the patient.  The patient depresses a button on the side of the bottle to activate the voice recording.

Located in Marion, Illinois across from the Williamson County Regional Airport on Route 13 at 7846 Aviation Drive, Health One will have pharmacists on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  Health One will maintain the following hours of operation: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (4:30 p.m. order cut-off); and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (2:30 p.m. order cut-off).  Health One will be closed on Sundays and Holidays, with the on-call pharmacists available for emergencies.
