VoiceAge AMR-WB+ added to VIMIO Mobile Content Distribution Platform

CANNES, France - VoiceAge Corporation and VIMIO Ltd. announced that VoiceAge's AMR-WB+ audio compression coding technology has been selected by VIMIO and integrated into the VIMIO Content Distribution Platform. Through this collaboration VIMIO and VoiceAge are providing operators with enabling solutions designed to accelerate mobile multimedia services to market.

VIMIO Ltd. is providing live television and music services to a mobile network operator in the Middle East. During this service trial, one audio feed can serve customers in several networks (2.5G, EDGE and 3G).

With AMR-WB+, streaming of radio can use less than 13 kbps (mono) or 18 kbps (stereo). AMR-WB+ also addresses the capabilities of diverse networks and handsets. This means that content providers can reach customers on several networks without duplicating their hardware investments.  In addition, the AMR-WB+ is able to adjust its coding bit rates in response to varying network conditions.
