Last Call for SSML Comments

The World Wide Web Consortium's Voice Browser Working Group has released the last-call working draft of Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML) Version 1.1. SSML 1.0 provides an XML-based markup language for assisting the generation of synthetic speech in Web and other applications.

SSML 1.1 improves on the W3C's SSML 1.0 by adding support for more conventions and practices of the world's languages, including those from Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.

The SSML 1.1 working draft document is located on the W3C Web site. Comments can be submitted via email to www-voice@w3.org.

As a last call, this will be the public's last chance to comment on SSML 1.1 before it becomes a full W3C recommendation. The deadline for
comments is July 20.
