Philips’ SpeechMike Dictation Microphone Recognized for High-Quality Performance

Philips Speech Processing, a manufacturer of mobile and stationary dictation systems, today announced that its third-generation SpeechMike (SpeechMike III) dictation microphone has been recognized by Nuance Communications for its compatibility and superior performance and quality with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11 speech recognition software. Nuance awarded the SpeechMike III with five dragons, the highest possible accolade for speech recognition compatibility.

“We are honored to be recognized for our newest SpeechMike recording device’s ability to deliver accurate speech recognition results,” said Gerhard Podhradsky, director of program management and innovation site speech processing at Philips. “We constantly work at improving the accuracy of speech recognition results and delivering enhanced workflow solutions, so that users of our solutions see the best results in any setting.”

SpeechMike III is the latest in the line of stationary audio recording devices and is equipped with noise reduction technology. It is available in two versions: push buttons or slide switch to control dictation functions. All designs are also available with a barcode scanner, so information can be read directly from patient or client files and assigned to the relevant file.
