ClinPro Selected Envox 6 to Power IVR Solutions for Medical Research and Clinical Trial Services

ClinPro has selected Envox Worldwide's Envox 6 to power interactive voice response (IVR) solutions for a growing clinical research organization.

When conducting a clinical trial to test a new drug or medical procedure, research conducted over the most diverse subject base will yield the best results.  The challenges of managing a study globally are selecting participants, communicating specific procedures for each subject and collecting results.

ClinPro, a full-service clinical research organization (CRO), realized that a phone-based solution would be ideal, giving researchers everywhere a fast and easy means of participating in studies.  To that end, ClinPro launched a new IVR solution for subject randomization, interactive surveys and diary data collection.  They needed a platform with speech capabilities.  They also required development features that allowed the IVR solutions to be customized for each study.

"Voice is the best way for us to ensure accurate and thorough communications on an international basis," said Rich Purcell, president of ClinPro.  "Envox 6 is an extremely flexible and cost-effective platform that we can leverage in our efforts to globalize research activities."

Now, investigators working on a ClinPro study can call a domestic or international toll-free number to participate. The automated IVR solution provides features, including the ability to screen subjects according to a list of inclusion/exclusion criteria, and the stratification and randomization of treatment assignments. It collects patient reported outcomes via electronic diaries accessible over the phone.  The IVR solution can also be programmed to call investigators or subjects at pre-determined times and remind them to perform critical tasks.  In addition, investigators can review subject information or register receipt of medication(s). Finally, the IVR solution can send messages, such as confirmation of the information provided by the investigator, via fax.

ClinPro includes a management tool for making system changes during the trial as needed.  The solution has multiple levels of security and keeps an audit trail that tracks all of the activities performed.  The IVR solution speaks to the investigator in his/her native language.  It is validated and is 21 CFR Part 11 compliant.

Envox provided call flow design, application development, system integration and testing services.  By working with Envox, ClinPro was able to develop this innovative solution, including functional design specification, in five weeks.

"The Envox Professional Services Group provided us with project critical expertise that enabled us to design an easy-to-use interface for navigating the complex decision trees we needed for patient randomization in this study," reported Rich Purcell.
