Convergys Appoints New Chief Technology Officer

CINCINNATI, OH - Convergys Corporation (NYSE: CVG) announces the appointment of two executives to senior management positions. Maureen Govern has been appointed Convergys' Chief Technology Officer, and Larry Schwartz has been named Executive Vice President of North American Operations for Convergys' Information Management Group (IMG). As Chief Technology Officer, Maureen Govern is responsible for technology leadership for Convergys and serves as the corporate spokesperson on technology issues at industry-related conferences and meetings. Govern also provides vision and direction to Convergys' Customer and Information Management Groups to ensure efficient integration of key technologies into the solutions Convergys delivers to its clients. She reports to Jim Orr, Convergys Chairman, President, and CEO, and is based in Cincinnati. Before joining Convergys, Govern served as Vice President of Advanced Technology Development for Motorola's Global Telecommunication Solutions Sector. While in this position, Govern was responsible for Motorola's cellular architecture, performance analysis, and advanced radio and network technology development. Previously, she also held senior positions at Bell-Northern Research and NYNEX Science and Technology. After completing a Masters of Science in Operations Research from Stanford University, Govern began her career as a member of the technical staff at Bell Laboratories in 1978. Larry Schwartz is Executive Vice President of North American Operations for Convergys' Information Management Group. He has responsibility for IMG's customer-facing units and data center services. Schwartz reports to Bob Marino, President of IMG, and is based in Cincinnati. Before coming to Convergys Schwartz served as CEO of E-Pen InMotion, a company specializing in advanced digital ink technologies. Previously, he was Vice President & General Manager of Compaq Telecom, with responsibility for Compaq's multi-billion dollar global telecommunication business spanning wireless applications, intelligent networking, network management, and professional services. Schwartz's extensive telecommunications experience includes senior management roles at Tandem Computers Inc., where he had responsibility for global wireless, wireline, and IP clientele, and at Northern Telecom Inc, and Bell-Northern Research. Schwartz earned his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.
