HP and Alcatel-Lucent Partner for UC Collaboration

In hopes of providing customers a more organized system, HP and Alcatel-Lucent will provide joint unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) to clients. The proposed solutions will merge telecommunications and IT components from both vendors.

HP will use the Genesys Customer interaction management Platform, UC connect solutions, and the Alcatel-Lucent Omnitouch Instant Communication Suite and IP telephony offering. The Genesys Customer Interaction Portal, a web-based thin-client solution, allows service providers and enterprises to manage contact centers without losing control of applications while UC connect solutions allows a company to extend beyond the actual contact center to work with agents, back office employees and others. The open architecture of the Instant Communication Suite is designed to let businesses control which vendors they choose.

With HP and Genesys intelligent Workload Distribution, they hope furthermore to increase effectiveness of all enterprise-wide resources, which would reduce operational costs across many industries including healthcare, financial services, utilities and government. The new services can be implemented on premises or via an outsourced operating model.

“Clients want an open, holistic approach to services delivery that maximizes their investment in UC&C,”  Gary Budzinski , senior vice president and general manager of HP’s Technology Services, said in a statement. “The strength of Alcatel-Lucent and HP’s combined portfolio provides organizations with open and highly scalable solutions that address the touch points where communication is critical.”

“We have a common approach to solutions that meet the needs of each individual customer’s requirements, including their existing technology mix, overall organizational needs and migration plans for the future," Tom Burns, president of Enterprise and Strategic Industries Business at Alcatel-Lucent, adds in a statement. "HP and Alcatel-Lucent have forged a close relationship which will enable enterprises around the world to drive down costs, improve productivity and optimize the customers’ experience through the entire UC&C environment.”
