New Talking Robot Emerges from China

Chinese robotics company Xiaoxi Technology has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for its voice-enabled smart social robot called Xibot.

Since the launch of this campaign, Xibot has been featured on indiegogo newsletter and reached its target goal in less than 36 hours, going on to raise almost $25,000 in just five days.

With a small body, large round face, and cat-like ears, Xibot shares its feelings with other family members. Xibot can gently wake users up in the morning, fill them in on the latest weather forecast, and remind them of the important things they need to do that day. Her voice-activated command function also responds directly to questions and when the owner is away, Xibot will monitor the house. Using front and back 1080p cameras and a built-in WiFi, she can be remotely controlled as a moving monitor anywhere and anytime. Xibot can also take pictures that can be sent to users' chosen social networks.
