Nuance's Mobile Developer Program Tops 10,000 App Developers Worldwide
More than 10,000 developers have now joined Nuance's NDEV Mobile developer program since its launch in 2011, Nuance has announced. NDEV Mobile brings Dragon voice recognition to mobile developers worldwide with the Dragon Mobile SDK, supporting over 20 languages for voice recognition and over 30 for text-to-speech.
According to Nuance, NDEV Mobile voice transaction volume has increased 384 percent in the last six months. Seventy percent of all developers are working on apps across multiple languages, with 60 percent of developers located outside the United States.
NDEV Mobile apps being developed for Android, Windows Phone 7, and those supporting HTTP interface have increased 47 percent in the last six months, with more than 50 percent of developers participating in NDEV Mobile's advanced support programs.
Apps include Price Check by Amazon, Merriam-Webster, Kraft iFood Assistant, Coupons.com Grocery iQ, Shopping List by Recipe.com, Snapguide, Dolphin Sonar, and OnStar RemoteLink. NDEV's language support is also being used for several translation applications, including SayHi Translate, Vocre, and, most recently, the social language learning app PlaySay.
NDEV Mobile offers three service tiers—Silver, Gold and Emerald—to give developers choice and flexibility in how they voice-enable their specific applications, with as much or as little support as needed.
"We'd like to thank our developers for helping us achieve this milestone," said Michael Thompson, executive vice president and general manager, Nuance Mobile, in a statement. "NDEV Mobile provides a unique opportunity for developers to work with Dragon and other key Nuance technologies, engineers, and designers to make their apps even better across devices, operating systems, and languages."
