Phonetic Systems Announces New Language Offerings

BEDFORD, MA - Phonetic Systems, the provider of large and dynamic speech recognition solutions, announced the availability of Dutch, U.K. English, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, and Spanish (European) languages for its version 5.0 Voice Search Engine (VSE). The VSE can be used for providing a variety of standalone speech driven applications or it can be integrated into any platform or environment that lends itself to voice activation and search such as unified messaging, SFA, CRM, ERP, password reset or other call center applications to improve satisfaction, reduce costs, and enhance business communications. "One of the key features built into version 5.0 of the VSE is that it dramatically improves the rapidity to which we can bring new languages to market," states Atzmon Ghilai, co-founder and chief technical officer. "A new language can be developed in as little as six weeks. Through participation in the SpeechDat Across Latin America (SALA) II program, we will begin additional language modules for the Americas later in 2003." The VSE has the ability to search large or dynamic datasets of information with automatic performance optimization. The VSE's patented technology provides specialized directory preparation techniques to automatically tune data for speech access regardless of how much new data is being added or how often. This eliminates the need for professional services or speech tuning which can negatively impact a customer's total cost of ownership. By being standards based with an open API, partners also find the VSE as the speech recognizer of choice for applications where the datasets are extremely large or where information is constantly changing. "Many of our current Fortune 1000 customers are looking forward to integrating the technology into their global offices," states John McCready, vice president of marketing and product management. "With the VSE's Global Enterprise Administration architecture, deployment in large companies with many large offices is a relatively simple proposition. This allows global branch locations to deliver the same consistent image to customers while giving them the flexibility to set up a unique call flow or script that relates to that specific country. "Phonetic Systems is ready for the global market", continues McCready. "We have already proven our success in the market outside of the US by deploying one of the largest commercially deployed voice automated directory assistance applications for the entire country of Finland. We're looking forward to growing both partnerships and customers with the development of these new languages."
