Nuance Launches Dutch Version of Dragon Medical 11

Nuance has rolled out Dragon Medical 11 in Dutch, the latest version of its desktop medical real-time speech recognition software, now available in Belgium and the Netherlands.

By eliminating transcription work, Dragon Medical 11 allows medical professionals to spend more time with patients, said Nuance. Dragon Medical 11 enables clinical letters to be dictated directly up to three times faster than typing, helping to meet targets to get discharge letters to patients within 24 hours. Dragon Medical's accuracy rates of up to 99 percent ensure clear, accurate, and timely clinical letters.

Dragon Medical has been optimized for non-native speakers, while new medical vocabularies cover a range of specialties and subspecialties. Patient report confidentiality and compliance is assured through the robust encryption of audio and text files.

New features include electronic health record (EHR) support, which makes it easy to navigate and dictate within existing clinical and diagnostic support applications, and "hidden mode," which enables users to click anywhere within a clinical application while dictating, and to add text where necessary afterward.

Dragon Templates automate form-filling by adding voice-enabled fields in dictation templates. The customizable PowerMic handheld microphone also allows buttons to be programmed to run any Dragon Medical function or user voice command.

"Driving efficiency while elevating the level of patient care is a key goal of most healthcare organizations," said Frederik Brabant, Nuance Healthcare's marketing director, in a statement. "Dragon Medical can play a role in increasing the quality of patient care and safety through improved clinical letter turnaround time and document consistency. It also has a proven track record in reducing costs. For many healthcare organizations, Dragon Medical will become a key component in addressing the challenges faced by medical professionals to deliver tangible improvements in both patient care and the bottom line."
