eBay Implements Voice in Its Warehouse

eBay Enterprise has turned to Mountain Leverage to implement a Honeywell voice solution for picking and packing in its warehouse in Louisville, Ky., to optimize workflows, increase order accuracy, and improve fulfillment efficiency to shorten delivery times.

eBay Enterprise selected Honeywell's Vocollect Talkman A730 solution and the ergonomic SRX2 wireless headset, along with Vocollect VoiceCatalyst software.

eBay Enterprise operates more than 6 million square feet of warehouse fulfillment space throughout the United States, Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

The improved voice workflows were first introduced in the picking area and within weeks extended into the packing operations.

"By implementing voice technology in both our pick and pack operations, we have seen higher productivity rates and improved accuracies by simplifying the current process and providing associates a more efficient hands-free alternative—all important factors to further drive success during peak," said Tom Barone, vice president of North America operations at eBay Enterprise, in a statement.

"We are very pleased with the initial efficiency and accuracy gains achieved in both picking and packing at the eBay Enterprise facility in Louisville," said Alex Reneman, president of Mountain Leverage, in a statement. "It's great to play a role in their initiative to increase productivity and solidify customer satisfaction in their very busy season as one of the premier omnichannel retailers."
