Aculab Announces Development of Host Media Processing Resource

MILTON KEYNES, UK - Aculab, a provider of computer telephony technology for developers and system integrators, announced the extension of its Prosody speech resource portfolio to include software only, host media processing. This occured during SpeechTEK, where Aculab is exhibiting in booth #205. Scheduled for release this year, Prosody S will be geared for applications such as IVR or voicemail where the price of hardware (DSP) based resources can be a barrier for small-scale solution development. "This is an exciting development," said Chris Gravett, sales and marketing director for Aculab. "Prosody S opens up the market not only for Aculab but for solution providers looking to target SMEs. It allows for the creation of very competitively priced IVR applications, for example." Prosody S will operate in both Linux and Windows environments and support a subset of the key functions of the Prosody DSP resource card, using the same API, ensuring fast development and deployment for users. Both SIP and H.323 protocols are supported, readily enabling connectivity to IP networks. "Its not just limited to SME targeted solutions," said Gravett. "Prosody S will also allow a growing number of solution providers, who are looking to provide IP based applications, to offer customers just a few 'taster' channels of IP."
