Voxeo Makes Multitenant IVR Virtualization a Reality

Voxeo, a provider of premise and hosted interactive voice response (IVR) and SIP VoIP platforms, released its interactive voice response (IVR) and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) hosting infrastructure as a completely rebrandable, platform-as-a service (PaaS) offering.

"Voxeo was the first company to offer VoiceXML and CCXML hosting and has since grown to be the world’s largest provider of standards-based IVR and SIP hosting," said Jonathan Taylor, CEO of Voxeo. "Today more than 400 global customers use Voxeo’s Prophecy Hosting to deliver IVR applications rapidly and profitably.  With this announcement we now provide our completely virtualized, multitenant IVR and SIP hosting infrastructure as an attractive OEM solution."

Voxeo runs four fully redundant, proven, and patented hosting facilities in the United States and and Europe. These facilities house more than 800 servers, each capable of processing more than 200 concurrent phone calls. The company plans to open a fifth facility in Europe this year and plans on launching other facilities in Asia and other markets in 2009.

Through Voxeo’s patented platform architecture, this cloud-based, multiserver infrastructure appears to customers as a single virtualized, multitenant IVR system with nearly unlimited scalability. The hosted offering is completely managed and controlled using Voxeo’s brandable online customer and developer Web portal, which includes Voxeo Designer, a visual telephony application development tool. Enterprise applications and telephony resources interact with the platform via standards such as VoiceXML, CCXML, HTTP, SOAP and SIP.

Vendors that use Voxeo’s IVR Platform-as-a-Service enable their end customers to focus on the growth of innovation, not infrastructure.

Using the Voxeo-powered solution, companies can quickly develop, debug and deploy automated telephony applications on demand without installing any hardware or software. Virtual IVR resources are provisioned instantly and capacity is rapidly scaled up or down to address evolving business requirements. Voxeo patented the concept and implementation of virtualized, single and multi-site IVR technology in 2000 as part of U.S. patent No. 6,922,411 - "Network computer telephony system driven by Web-based applications.

Voxeo has invested more than $50 million in the delivery of its IVR hosting network and continuously adds capacity as customer demand increases. Its platform includes comprehensive call control features to make, take, route, and connect calls; as well as robust voice media features to play, record, conference, recognize, and synthesize speech in 12 different languages.
