Loquendo TTS and ASR Integrated into Skysam’s Language-Learning App

Loquendo and Skysam, an innovations company, have launched LoL, a new language-learning application for the iPhone, iPad,and iPod Touch, in seven languages. Languages available are French, English, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Castillian Spanish, German, and Russian.

LoL is designed for users who want to learn a new language or practice their existing knowledge of a language, and the application’s game format works well for both adults and children. It is an application for learning about written and spoken language, both words and numbers, and, more generally, is about learning to read.

Thanks to Loquendo text-to-speech technology, users can listen to the correct pronunciation of words and numbers, while Loquendo speech recognition enables them to practice saying the words and numbers themselves. The application offers three game types, which cover spelling, finding synonyms, and associating pictures with the correct words.

“LoL is a well-designed and pioneering app for all students of languages,” said Claudio Genova, Loquendo sales manager for embedded technologies, in a statement. “Skysam has created a truly effective and original learning tool which clearly demonstrates that Loquendo technologies are ideal for use in educational activities, as well as on the new generation of mobile devices.”

“Thanks to their high performance and reliability, we found that Loquendo TTS and ASR were the perfect choice for our application,” said Franck Samama of Skysam in a statement. “Loquendo’s human-like voices and accurate voice recognition provide users with the essential elements for learning in a really enjoyable way.”
