NEC and Klausner Technologies Resolve Patent Litigation

NEC has just entered into a worldwide patent license agreement with Klausner Technologies to provide visual voicemail, which allows users to visually identify and selectively retrieve voice messages. The agreement removes NEC from ongoing visual voicemail patent litigation involving Klausner's U.S. Canadian, European, Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese patents for the technology.

The new license with NEC brings Klausner Technologies' total number of visual voicemail patent licensees under its U.S. and foreign patents to 38. Licensees include international mobile operators, cell phone manufacturers, cable/VOIP providers, providers of OTT visual voicemail products, and providers of visual voicemail products and services for the enterprise market.

NEC has been dismissed with prejudice from the ongoing case (Klausner Technologies, Inc. v. Alcatel-Lucent, et. al, Case No. 6-11-cv-231) pending in federal court in the Eastern District of Texas. Remaining defendants in the lawsuit include Toshiba and Samsung Electronics.
