SpeechTrans Collaborates with HP

SpeechTrans has announced that its translation software is now available on HP's MyRoom solution on Microsoft Windows 8.

Powered by Nuance Communications' speech recognition engine, SpeechTrans software runs speech-to-speech language translation software in HP MyRoom, an online meeting place where colleagues and partners can meet face to face through video. The software eliminates the need for an interpreter by enabling two or more people to communicate in a variety of languages through their smartphone, computer, or landline. The patent pending speech-to-speech language translation software allows people to conduct real-time conversations in more than 18 languages.

HP MyRoom will feature the SpeechTrans translator API, allowing users to send instant messages in any language by speaking into their PC, tablet, or Mac, enriching HP's MyRoom multiparty collaboration that also includes video, PC audio, screen sharing, video/audio stored messages, and drag and drop cloud file sharing using HP MyRoom's Box.com Integration.

"We are very pleased to bring speech-to-speech translation capability to the world through partnering with HP," said Yan Auerbach, chief operating officer at SpeechTrans, in a statement. "Communicating globally in eighteen different languages has never been simpler. With HP MyRoom's ability to share desktops, documents, and video conferencing, SpeechTrans enables MyRoom participants instant communication in their chosen language. Participants don't have to type; they can speak their phrases and SpeechTrans will convert from speech to text, text to text, and text to speech in near real time. SpeechTrans coupled with HP's MyRoom enables groups of students to learn and international businesses to communicate without language barriers."
