VoltDelta Is Acquired

VoltDelta, a cloud-based contact center infrastructure vendor, has been acquired by network services provider NewNet Communication Technologies, a Skyview Capital company. As part of the deal, Skyview also purchased Volt Information subsidiary LSSiDATA, a provider of directory assistance data such as phone numbers, addresses, and names for direct marketers, contact centers, and credit and collections. Financial terms were not disclosed.

VoltDelta's solutions include virtual contact centers, voice self-service, and cloud-based multichannel services. The 35-year-old company is headquartered in New York with global operations and data centers in North America, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

"The challenge for VoltDelta was that the corporation didn't really understand what they do because it's so different from everything else," says Donna Fluss, president and founder of DMG Consulting. "An acquisition like this has potential for them."

There are more than 150 cloud-based contact center infrastructure vendors, Fluss says, and she believes it's no longer a question of whether this market will consolidate, but when. However, she says that the VoltDelta acquisition isn't a market consolidation. VoltDelta, she adds, could be a good fit with Skyview's NewNet. That subsidiary is a telecom software and hardware provider to telecom carriers, while VoltDelta sells its solutions to enterprises.

"This is an interesting combination," Fluss says.

She expects that because NewNet is in the telecom area it "will have a better appreciation and be willing to make more of an investment in VoltDelta."

While VoltDelta hasn't been in the news recently, the company has cemented several under-the-radar partnerships with companies such as AT&T to provide cloud-based contact center infrastructure solutions. "They have been very active behind the scenes, they're just doing it quietly," Fluss says.

"There's a lot more here than meets the eye," she continues, noting that VoltDelta wasn't getting all the resources it needed. "They have a very strong infrastructure, but they do need to be more competitive and have to speed up the pace of innovation in the marketplace. Hopefully, with this acquisition, their new owners will appreciate the need to more rapidly invest in their solutions."

At Skyview Capital, Alex Soltani, chairman and CEO, said in a statement that the VoltDelta acquisition, "represents a significant milestone in the evolution of NewNet's product portfolio and market focus.

"The combination of these two businesses provides significant scale to NewNet and allows us to expand our telecom services to additional geographies and customer groups," he said. "We look forward to growing the ONDemand, cloud-based services and the LSSI big data services."
