Telephonetics, Vodat Partner on First Voice-Activated IP Dialing Solution

Telephonetics  formed a strategic alliance with Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) supplier Vodat Solutions to deliver speech recognition voice activated dialling across an IP network.

"By offering a fully featured model of our speech activated ContactPortal alongside Vodat Solutions' existing ASP* services, we can jointly provide small to medium enterprises (SMEs) with a complete managed service for voice, video, voicemail and voice activated dialling across the TCP/IP** network - a true VoIP solution," says Paul Welham, sales and marketing director of Telephonetics.

"This means customers who pay an easily manageable monthly subscription charge will benefit from the substantial on-going cost savings that the ContactPortal can achieve combined with a high value feature-rich managed service without the need for an expensive internal voice network," he adds. "And because there's no large capital outlay, companies can take advantage of speech recognition and IP developments now, at little or no risk."

The VoIP ASP service is based on Telephonetics' ContactPortal system, which uses speech recognition technology to answer, transfer and make telephone calls. It also allows staff to filter out calls from people they'd rather not speak to and forwards calls to employees wherever they're working.

"By providing speech recognition as a VoIP ASP model, we can provide companies with fast internet access, cheap calls and a sophisticated speech recognition solution," says Alex Waterman, managing director of Vodat Solutions, whose customers include Timberwise and construction group Willmott-Dixon.

"Companies don't have to make a dual investment in voice and data networks, nor do they need to invest in phone systems or PABXs," he adds. "We simply supply them with a phone to plug into their existing data network."
