Brooktrout and VoiceGenie Partner to Deliver VoiceXML Speech Technology

HANNOVER, GERMANY - Brooktrout Technology Inc., a supplier of hardware and software platforms used in the development of applications, services and systems for the New Network™ and VoiceGenie Technologies, the worldwide leader in VoiceXML gateways, development environments and tools, announced that Brooktrout's TR1000 speech processing platform has been integrated with VoiceGenie's VoiceXML Gateway. Developers can use this VoiceXML compliant system to create speech-enabled applications such as voice self help systems, automated progress tracking, advanced message delivery services, virtual assistants, and automated business finder and operator services. VoiceGenie's VoiceXML Gateway delivers a fully open, non-proprietary architecture that supports speech recognition and speech pre-processing technology, such as Brooktrout's TR1000. "Our support for Brooktrout's TR1000 illustrates one of the benefits of our open systems approach—the ability to select best-in-class enabling technologies that provide the recognition accuracy and performance our customers need," said Eric Jackson, vice president of Strategy and Business Development at VoiceGenie Technologies Inc. "We anticipate that Brooktrout's TR1000 will be the hardware platform of choice for developers seeking outstanding price/performance and a close partnership with one of the leaders in speech technology." VoiceXML developers can now take advantage of the TR1000's speech processing features when building their applications on the VoiceGenie VoiceXML Gateway. The TR1000's full-duplex operation, long-tail echo cancellation and integrated Voice Activity Detection improve system accuracy and performance, and complement the VoiceGenie Gateway's advanced audio processing, application and development tools, multi-language support, and voice verification capabilities to deliver the highest levels of scalability, flexibility and robustness. "Brooktrout continues its commitment to the speech market by actively pursuing technology partnerships with leading speech vendors such as VoiceGenie that will allow us to provide reliable and interoperable communications products to our customers," said Peter Vescuso, vice president of Market Development for Brooktrout Technology. "Brooktrout's expertise in media processing platforms, coupled with VoiceGenie's leadership in VoiceXML gateway platforms, provides a powerful combination for the development of speech-enabled applications." Brooktrout Technology and VoiceGenie are both members of the VoiceXML Forum and the SALT Forum, complementary standards groups with a shared goal of accelerating the use of speech in multimodal and telephony systems.
