Video: What Can NLP Do for Your Converted Text?

Learn more about speech-to-text and natural-language processing applications at the next SpeechTEK conference.

Read the complete transcript of this clip:

Paco Nathan: When you have video converted to text, let's say, and you're working with NLP, there's a lot of great things you can do with this. Obviously, finding key phrases is good. There's the notion that if you have a video and you want to look at where is it that this speaker has mentioned DevOps, let's say. So, where do they make mention of specific concepts and related concepts? Where in the video? Then you can do much smarter indexing into video products or audio products.

I think that a lot of the big win for this is in summarization, because once we have a transcript and we can parse a transcript and represent it as a graph, there is a way to be able to summarize it. Collapse it down. I might be able to take a 45-minute talk and come out with a one-page summary. It's not perfect, but it's a lot better than having to watch 4,000 hours of video.

And, I think, ultimately, this leads to a lot better work with conversational interfaces. What we can do with understanding what's coming out of the text and what the context is, is going to have a lot of feedback into when we get into smaller conversations as well.
