Voxeo Taps Bob Ingalls as CEO
Voxeo named Bob Ingalls, a 33-year veteran of the telecommunications industry and a former Verizon senior executive, as its new CEO.
Former CEO Jonathan Taylor will remain at Voxeo as chairman of both the company's board and its newest subsidiary, Voxeo Labs.
Prior to his appointment, Ingalls served on Voxeo's advisory board. He retired from Verizon, where he spent 28 years. He most recently served as chief marketing officer and president of Verizon's Retail Markets Group and president of Verizon's Business Solutions Group, where he had full responsibility for revenue growth and customer service across the consumer and small and midsized business segments.
According to Taylor, the search for the new CEO was a six-month process. "We found that the perfect leader was already on our board of advisors," he states. "Bob has been a trusted advisor to Voxeo and to me personally and is a valuable addition to our team. His extensive leadership experience and proven track record of success in the telecommunications and customer service industries fits perfectly with Voxeo's vision. We're extremely pleased to have Bob leading Voxeo through our second decade of growth and innovation."
Ingalls has already set an aggressive agenda for himself at the helm of Voxeo.
"My focus is on building the core business and taking it up another notch," he says.
One goal is the continued development of interactive voice response and automated self-service platforms "so that we're leading in that regard, as we've been doing," he adds.
Another area of concern for Ingalls will be building a multichannel strategy for the company. "The goal in the next frontier is to focus on mobile, and how do we get our native applications built so that Voxeo can continue to be out in front of the market," he says. "Part of my goal here is to build on what's already here. We're focused on escalating growth and not just maintaining it…. This is really about optimizing and fine-tuning and creating more velocity around what we can do and trying to do it bigger, better, and faster."
Ingalls' appointment allows Taylor to focus on growing Voxeo Labs, the recently launched research and development arm of the company.
"The labs side of Voxeo has been focused on the capabilities on some of the platforms that have been built," Ingalls says. "What it's really focusing on is the service provider space and building tools and enabling service providers to build apps in their networks for call control and things like that."
Separating the Voxeo Labs operations from the rest of the company "frees up the Voxeo business to focus on its core strength, which is the IVR and automated self-service applications, and focus even more upstream on further development on mobile to enable true multichannel capabilities," Ingalls says.
